(Boat/Camp 2025 is coming — Friday, July 25)
The Darien Sail & Power Squadron proudly presented its 26th Boat/Camp on July 26, 2024, a beautiful sunny Friday. Over the years, Boat/Camp has introduced over 1500 day-camp students to Long Island Sound.
Departing from Noroton Yacht club, campers from Rogers School Community Center Organization (ROSCCO) boarded boats owned by volunteer captains and crew and headed out to the Sound. For most, this was their first time boating. They visited Sheffield Island Lighthouse, met pirates in Ziegler’s Cove, cruised Five Mile River, enjoyed the coastal scenery from the water, and thanks to the Greens Ledge Light Preservation Society, visited Greens Ledge Lighthouse. The adventures concluded with ice cream at Noroton YC.
The Darien Sail & Power Squadron partnered with Person-to-Person, ROSCCO, Noroton Yacht Club, Darien Boat Club, Darien Police Marine Unit, Noroton Fire Department Marine Unit, Norwalk Seaport Association, United States Coast Guard Auxiliary–Norwalk Flotilla 7-2, the Masonic Club of Darien, Noroton Yacht Club Women Sailing Program, Sea Scouts Ship 6, Greens Ledge Light Preservation Society, and Norwalk Fire Department Marine Division.
As you can see in the video, Boat/Camp 2024 was a resounding success!
